In this series of classes, participants will dive into the world of bookbinding. Structures including the single and double pamphlets, accordion, link stitch, and Coptic. We will also discuss some history and effects of books on literacy and culture.
Students may choose to attend class in-person at the Ithaca Generator (limit to 5 students) or by Zoom simultaneously. In-person students may borrow tools at IG. The cost of this class is sliding scale: $100-$200 for 4 classes.
This class is taught by Laura Rowley, a teaching book artist from Trumansburg, NY. Laura learned the art and craft of bookbinding at Wells College and The University of Alabama. She currently teaches virtual bookbinding at RIT and has taught many community-based classes around the area.
