14 student maximum, 2 students minimum; students must be 11 and older with some lego robotics or EV3 programming experience (or by special permission); please note that the focus of this class is programming, not building with Legos
The course will cover LEGO EV3 / NXT robot building / programming strategies to improve robot navigation and robustness for robotics competitions. Topics covered will include how the robot construction will affect navigation, robot characterization, attachment design, and advanced programming / navigation strategies such as line following and use of sensors. Although the techniques covered will be applicable to a range of robot designs, the main focus will be on robotics for FIRST LEGO League (FLL) competitions, and will be taught using this past FLL season’s competition table. The course will be taught by local FLL coaches with assistance by advanced team members. Since this course will not cover the basics of LEGO EV3 / NXT programming, some familiarity with the LEGO EV3 / NXT kit and programming is required. The course is recommended for FLL coaches and experienced team members looking to take their robot missions to the next level!
