Prerequisites: none; no previous welding knowledge necessary
Cost: IG membership plus a $10 to $20 suggested donation to http://paypal.me/clarkberg to cover arc welding consumables
Class Size: 1-4 students
Tools you will learn to use: stick welder, MIG welder, TIG welder, metal chop saw, angle grinder, bench grinder
Materials: pencil holder parts: 3” x 1.5” x 16 ga. steel square tubing; 1.5” x 3” x 1/8” steel plate
Material cost: (none; usually there is scrap metal to use)
The metal area will be unavailable when class is in session.
Completing this class will certify you to use Ithaca Generator’s arc welding equipment.
Learn to use the Ithaca Generator metal shop! You’ll take home an attractive and useful pencil holder as well as a working knowledge of many of the metal working tools in the Ithaca Generator metal shop. All tools and materials are provided by the Ithaca Generator. No prior metal working experience required: suitable for beginners just learning the basics up to intermediate makers looking to hone their skills. This class will certify you to use the arc welding equipment at Ithaca Generator. If you already have welding skills and just want to become certified to use the arc welding equipment, you can take our half-hour brief training class.
